Washington Post Names 1st Black Female Managing Editor In Its 143-Year History

 

Krissah Thompson,41 has been named a managing editor at The Washington Post, the first Black woman to hold the role in the news publication’s history.

She will be responsible for leading the newsroom’s efforts in the recruitment, hiring, promotion and mentoring of staff members, with an eye toward expanding the newsroom’s diversity. She also has served two decades in the WaPo newsroom.
