Black Fact = Alberta Tucker Grimes

Black Fact = 1910 (March 22) – Alberta Tucker Grimes, the first black woman to serve as a member on the Board of Trustees of the University of South Carolina, was born on this date in March 22,1910. Grimes organized and led many community efforts including helping to establish the Head Start Program in Greenville– a model program for other programs throughout the State.
