Singer/Songwriter Bobby Caldwell, ‘What You Won’t Do For Love’, dies at 71

A singer and songwriter the world had a chance to experience Bobby Caldwell, has passed away (March 15,2023) at the age of 71. He is famously known for songs such as R&B hits including “What You Won’t Do For Love” and “Open Your Eyes,”.

According to AP, the soulful singer-songwriter’s wife, Mary Caldwell, announced his death on his official Twitter account Wednesday, saying he died at home.

Its also being reported that the song that Mr.Caldwell wrote which was entitled “What You Won’t Do for Love” went to No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 6 on what was then called the Hot Selling Soul Singles chart. It became a long-term standard and career-defining hit for Caldwell, who also wrote the song.

The song was covered by artists, including Boyz II Men and Michael Bolton, and was sampled by Tupac Shakur on his posthumously released song “Do For Love.” Many other artists sampled many of his songs such as artists including The Notorious B.I.G., Common, Lil Nas X and Chance the Rapper.
