Black Fact = 1949 ( June 18) – After a Supreme Court ruling, Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher enrolled in the University of Oklahoma Law School on this date in 1949. Fisher had previously been barred from the school because she was Black.She was a key figure in the Civil Rights Movement in Oklahoma. She applied for admission into the University of Oklahoma law school in order to challenge the state’s segregation laws and to become a lawyer.
