Black Fact= 1964 (June 21) – James Earl Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner, CORE members and activists on a “Freedom Summer” mission, were murdered in Philadelphia, MS, on this date in 1964. The mission was a cross-country attempt to register Black voters.
