Black Fact = 1976 (March 20 ) – Muhammad Ali helped secure the release of former middleweight boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter and friend, John Artis, from a New Jersey prison. They served nine years for allegedly killing three people in a Paterson, NJ, tavern.
