Black Fact = 1886 (April 24) – Augustus Tolton was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest in Rome and then assigned to America on this date in 1886. Tolton is considered by some to be the first black Priest since both James and Patrick Healy had a white father and a mulatto mother.
